Real Madrid’s famous coach, Carlo Ancelotti, will face trial next week over tax fraud accusations.

Spanish prosecutors say the 65-year-old Italian did not report more than one million euros ($1.1 million) from image rights between 2014 and 2015.

They want him to be jailed for four years and nine months.

Understanding the Accusations

The trial will start on Wednesday and is expected to last two days.

Ancelotti must be present in court. Officials claim that while he reported his salary from Real Madrid at the time, he did not declare extra income.

Even though he said he was a tax resident in Spain and lived in Madrid, they say he used a “complex” and “unclear” system of fake companies to hide money from his image rights and real estate earnings.

Ancelotti’s Reaction and Legal Steps

In 2023, a Spanish court decided that Ancelotti had to stand trial, but a date was only set recently.

“Addressing the matter last year, Ancelotti dismissed it as an ‘old story’ and expressed hope for a swift resolution.”

Ancelotti’s Successful Career

Ancelotti first became Real Madrid’s coach in 2013 but left in May 2015 to manage Bayern Munich in 2016.

Before coaching, he was a top player and won two European Cups with AC Milan.

Over the years, he has coached big clubs like Napoli and Everton before returning to Real Madrid in 2021.

As a coach, he has won five Champions League titles, the most in history.

He has also won league titles in Spain (Real Madrid), Italy (Milan), England (Chelsea), Germany (Bayern Munich), and France (Paris Saint-Germain), making him one of the greatest managers ever.

With the trial coming soon, the football world is eager to see what happens next in this Major case.
