  • Reno Omokri has dropped his two cents concerning recent backlash received by the Lagos state government.

  • These backlash include the bad road and traffic, which Lagos residents experience on a day basis.

  • Reacting, Reno Omokri has advised Lagosians to leave Lagos and go back to their state of origin.

One of Nigeria’s most controversial politician, Reno Omokri has reacted to the constant complain of Lagos residents.

According to the former presidential aide, Lagosians focus more on the difficulty they experience, without noting the appreciating the efforts of the Lagos state government.

This comes after the closure of the Independence Bridge, which led to traffic in the state.

Taking to his Instagram page, Reno said most of the people critiquing the government should consider returning to their home states.

He wrote;

Lagos has a landmass of just 3345 square kilometres. Yet it is home to 11% of Nigeria’s population. It is one of the most densely populated places on the planet. To put it in perspective, Niger State is 76,363 square kilometres. This means there are twenty-three Lagos States inside Niger State alone. Yet, Niger has only a quarter of the population of Lagos State.

This means that Lagos State has limited options when the Government wants to maintain roads. They do not have the luxury of space. And despite this constraint, people keep trooping to Lagos State.

Please fact -check me: Every day, night buses bring 6000 people into Lagos, many of whom are looking for Lagos State to treat them better than their own states could. When they don’t get that five-star treatment, they come online to say nasty things about Lagos.

Yes, you unusually spent hours in traffic in Lagos yesterday and today. That is not an indictment on the leadership of Lagos State. It is an unfortunate necessity when major roads have to be repaired in a state with land constraints.

Instead of insulting Lagos and its people because of this inconvenience, why not appreciate the fact that the LASG has built Blue and Red line trains that offer you an alternative to road transport?

Does your state have such? Capital no! Compared to Lagos, many states are mere glorified villages. One state even celebrated the first bus stop in its history, yet people from that state are criticising the Lagos Government.

Instead of attacking Lagos State over the road closures and their attendant traffic congestions, I have an idea for you. Consider returning to your state of origin. And if you cannot return because Lagos is better, I will counsel you to put up with the situation.”
