The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) following allegations of corruption involving crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky.

The motion, adopted on Thursday, focuses on claims that the EFCC received ₦15 million from Bobrisky to drop money laundering charges against him.

The motion, introduced by Hon. Patrick Umoh representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara, cited disturbing allegations made by social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.

Otse alleged that Bobrisky, convicted for abusing the naira, served his sentence in a private residence rather than a correctional facility.

The motion stated: “The House notes the disturbing and widely circulated publication emanating from Martins Vincent Otse against critical Nigerian law enforcement institutions; the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service.” It further noted the serious claims that Bobrisky was treated preferentially during his sentencing.

The House urged the establishment of an ad-hoc committee, composed of individuals of unquestionable integrity, to investigate the matter thoroughly and report back within three legislative weeks.
