  • The House of representatives have began to pass a bill to enable the FRSC officials carry weapons.

  • In additions to other provisions, the bill, which will also enable to officials be licensed to guns has been passed to its second reading.

A bill, which seeks to amend the current Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC act has been passed to its second hearing.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the bill, which was sponsored by Rep. Abiodun Derin Adesida and Rep. Olaide Lateef Muhammed seeks for better ways the officials can carry out their jobs.

One of these better ways is the creation of a special armed squad for FRSC.

Some of the other importance of the billing include, making officers on the rank of Deputy Corp Marshal enjoy benefits attached to the rank including retirement benefits.

It also sees that the agency is empowered with the necessary facilities and responsibility for road and traffic management, with the aim of prevention accident and other road havocs.

The bill, which was also supported by members of the House and has been sent to its second reading also seeks to empower the FRSC with the power to educate motorists and the general public at large.
