The House of Representatives has postponed its scheduled briefing with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), following his formal request for a rescheduling.
Ibas, who was appointed by President Bola Tinubu after the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, was expected to appear before the House Ad-Hoc Committee on Thursday to discuss governance and administrative developments in the state.
The committee, chaired by House Leader Prof Julius Ihonvbere, was set up following a National Assembly resolution endorsing the presidential proclamation.
A statement by the House spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, confirmed the postponement, stating: “Vice Admiral Ibas communicated his request to defer the session.

A new date for the engagement will be communicated soon.” Ibas’ appointment and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and state lawmakers for six months have sparked heated political reactions nationwide.
Ibas has since dismissed all political appointees installed by Fubara, as part of efforts to stabilize the state.
