The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has issued a strong warning of a nationwide strike if the Federal Government continues to delay the implementation of agreements reached with the association.

In a statement released on Friday, NARD said its National Executive Council (NEC) had convened an emergency meeting to determine its next course of action following the government’s failure to honour the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with resident doctors.

The association revealed that the meeting was being held under the banner “TICS 2.0 – No implementation, no going back,” underscoring its readiness to embark on industrial action should the situation persist.

NARD noted that Friday marked the second day after the expiration of the agreed deadline for the Federal Government to fully implement the MoU, accusing authorities of neglecting commitments critical to the welfare of resident doctors.

The doctors warned that continued inaction by the government could lead to a shutdown of medical services across public health institutions nationwide if urgent steps are not taken to address their demands.
