The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has criticized the National Working Committee (NWC) for recognizing Tony Okocha as the leader of the party in the state, despite a court order reinstating Chief Emeka Beke as the authentic leader.
The State APC Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, described the NWC’s actions as a national embarrassment, causing disunity within the party’s fold in the state.
Nwauju stated that the court order had preserved the tenure of the elected executives of the party in the state and that any attempt to hold fresh congresses would be an act of illegality and a waste of resources.
He appealed to the NWC to stop distracting the President with ill-timed political permutations and to respect the court’s judgment.
