Robbers Attack Bullion Van, Kill Four Policemen in Ebonyi

A gang of daredevil gunmen dressed in police uniforms on Wednesday evening attacked a bullion van in Ebonyi State, killing four policemen in the process.

Sources say that the gang fruitlessly tried to intercept the bullion van at the popular Izzhia Ngbo junction in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

The slain police officers

An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen on anonymous grounds narrated that the bullion van was conveying money to one of the new generation banks when it was attacked.

The state’s Commissioner of Police, Philip Maku while confirming the incident, stated that the robbers trailed the van from Enugu state.

CP Maku revealed that the robbers were unable to cart away with any cash as the driver managed to drive the van out of the area.

According to the CP, two other injured Policemen have been taken to the hospital for treatment while the deceased have been deposited at the mortuary.

He added that the Police has launched a manhunt for the fleeing robbers.
