On Friday, a four-man robbery gang successfully stole about eleven million dollars from a Hausa trader in the Oke-Sokori area of Abeokuta, in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The robbery lasted for three minutes and the suspects fled with the stolen money in two ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bags after disabling the victim’s Toyota Venza salon car, marked ABC 565 GN.
The victim, who remained unnamed, reported the incident to two police patrol teams that arrived at the scene approximately 30 minutes after the robbery.

He narrated that he was returning to his base after an unsuccessful attempt to deposit the foreign currency at the Oke-Ilewo branch of a new-generation bank. The bank had turned him away, citing the end of banking hours.
During the robbery which occurred around 4:35 pm, it was said the gang arrived in a tinted Toyota Camry ‘Muscle’ and forcefully halted the victim’s Toyota Venza car and offloaded two bags containing foreign currency before escaping with the victim’s car key right in front of the FATGBEMS Petroleum Filling Station at Oke – Sokori.
According to an eyewitness at the scene, the robbers were masked and clad in black T-shirts and jeans, black facemasks, and rifles.
The incident was confirmed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who stated that the command’s operatives were already on the trail of the criminals.
