Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record in the football world as he has been announced as the first man in the sport to become a billionaire.

The Portuguese forward did beat his eternal rival, Barcelona and Argentine playmaker, Lionel Messi to the feat in the latest Forbes list.

Ronaldo stands one place above Messi in the new rankings and makes him football star to rake a billion dollar in earnings.

The Juventus forward is only the third sportsman to reach the billion-dollar milestone.

American golf player, Tiger Woods was the first athlete to attain the mark far back in 2009.

American boxer, Floyd Mayweather was the second sportsman to achieve the feat in 2017.

The former Real Madrid star is the only athlete to have attained the feat in a team sport. He is also the first athlete outside America to reach the landmark.
