Singer Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, recently shared that he and some of his peers should have retired from music by now. The 45-year-old noted that, traditionally, musicians didn’t stay active for as long as they do today.
During an appearance on the Adesope Live show, Rudeboy discussed the challenges of balancing family life with a career in music.
“In the old days, people like us should have retired by now,” he said. “There’s a time for everything. If you’re a celebrity and think people will always see you as perfect, you’re mistaken. Everyone faces challenges, and how you handle them defines your journey.”

He explained that all top artists have faced their share of criticisms and scandals, and this will be true for the rising stars as well. He believes it’s a normal part of the entertainment industry, but what truly matters is how one manages these issues.
Rudeboy rose to fame in the 2000s as part of the P-Square duo with his twin brother, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P. The group first split in 2016 but reunited in 2021. However, in August 2024, Rudeboy confirmed that P-Square had broken up again after Peter accused him and their older brother, Jude Okoye, of mismanaging the group’s funds.
