Nigerian singer Ruger has credited Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning artist, with introducing live band performances to the Afrobeats scene. He mentioned that before Burna Boy began incorporating live bands into his shows, most Afrobeats artists relied on DJ setups for their stage performances.

Ruger suggested that Burna Boy’s approach has made live performances more enjoyable and dynamic. He shared these thoughts during a recent interview with Billboard, where he was joined by fellow Nigerian artist BNXN.

“Before Burna Boy started this live band thing most Afrobeats Act would just go on stage with their DJs and bounce, Burna boy makes live performance enjoyable.
