Ruthless Haaland Breaks Champion League Record

The Erling Haaland was in another level, with an impressive display as Manchester City cruised into the quarter-final with a fantastic performance.

An insatiable Norwegian striker tore Leipzig apart with five goals as Manchester City ran riot.

Haaland is the first player to score five goals in a club match and also his career, and has also become City’s all-time highest scorer in a single season, taking his tally for the campaign to 39 in all competitions.

He has so far overtaken Kylian Mbappe as the youngest player to reach 30 goals in the Champion League, and also overtook Ruud van Nistelrooy as the fastest player to hit the milestone, doing so in only 25 matches compared to the former Netherland’s striker 34.

Haaland was helped by a resurgent performance from Kevin De Bruyne, who completed the rout with a highly-deserved late goal, and an impressive Jack Grealish.
