Salah, Mane, And The Highest Paid African Footballers 2022

Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane are the top two highest-paid African footballers currently.

Salah topped the list of highest-paid African footballers when he renewed his current contract in June 2022, extending his stay at the Merseyside with a long-term contract.

The Egyptian renewed his contract in a deal worth £350,000 per week, making him the current highest African footballer.

Salah is closely followed by a former Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane, who already completed a move to Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich.

The Senegalese forward is on a bumper sum of £250,000 per week salary. According to a report by Africa Fact Zone, Africans are beginning to dominate in major leagues and commanding huge salaries and bumper deals.

In the last decade, African footballers such as Aubameyang, Acraf Hakimi, Andrew Ayew, Riyad Mahrez, and a host of others have been on high wages.

Here is a list of the Top 10 highest-paid African footballers.

1. Mohammed Salah

According to Sky Sports, Mohammed Salah, last week, renewed his Liverpool contract in a deal worth more than £350,000 a week.

This contract renewal places him as the highest-paid African footballer.

The forward was entering the last 12 months of his contract so Liverpool had to agree on a new contract to ward off any potential suitors.

2 Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane completed a move to Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich in June 2022.

Liverpool sold the Senagalese captain in a deal worth £45 million.

Mane will earn £250,000 per week, making him the 2nd highest-paid African footballer.

He was on £100,000 when he played for the Merseyside giant, Liverpool.

3. Thomas Partey

Arsenal signed Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid on deadline day after triggering his £45m release clause last summer.
According to ESPN, Partey signed a four-year contract worth approximately £250,000 per week with the Gunners.

He currently sits third on the highest-paid African footballers’ chart.

4. Riyad Mahrez

During the summer of 2018, Manchester City broke their transfer record to sign left-wing wizard, Riyad Mahrez,

The deal was worth £200,000 and he was the highest-paid player at that time.

However, Mahrez is yet to renew his contract at the Etihad even as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

5. Andre Ayew

Andre Ayew completed a move to Qatari side, Al Sadd, from Swansea City in the summer of last year.

6. Kalidou Koulibaly

Kalidou Koulibaly earns £180,000 per week playing for Napoli .

He is into the last 12 months of his contract and a host of clubs are after his signature .

7. Acraf Hakimi

The Morocco international joined PSG last season in a £70 million move from Inter Milan last summer.

The Paris Saint-Germain outfit pays Acraf Hakimi around £176,000.

He signed a 5-year contract at the club.

8. Nicolas Pepe

Arsenal completed the signing of Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille for a club-record fee in the summer of 2021.

The Gunners paid £72m after a 5-year deal worth £140,000 per week was signed by the former Lille superstar.

9. Wilfried Zaha

Wilfried Zaha signed a new five-year contract with Crystal Palace in 2018 which will expire in the summer of next year.
With the renewal, he is currently on £ 130,000 per week.

10. Naby Keita

Liverpool agreed on a deal to bring Keita to Anfield in the summer of 2018, from RB Leipzig.

The former Leipzig midfielder is currently on £130,000 as has been reported by the Guardian.
