In a resounding affirmation, Rev (Dr) Sam Aboyeji has been re-elected to lead the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria for another term of five years, commencing from November 2024.
Aboyeji received an overwhelming support from the 1,979 delegates who convened at the church’s special convention held on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Foursquare Camp Ajebo in Ogun State.
The convention coincided with the eve of the church’s International Conference for Ministers and Leaders, themed “Making Disciples.”
As General Overseer, Rev Aboyeji will serve an initial term of five years, followed by the possibility of renewal for a final term of another five years through a secret ballot of “yes” or “no.”

The decisive vote will take place during a Special Convention in the month of April.
He extended gratitude to the delegates for their peaceful conduct during the affirmation election.
The New General Overseer further stressed the importance of cooperation and active participation from all members in fulfilling the church’s mandate.
He held the distinction of being the 5th indigenous General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.
The church, originally founded in 1923 by Canadian-American Lady Evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson, has its roots in the United States of America.
