Sampdoria have officially announced the dismissal of Andrea Pirlo as their manager. The Serie B club released a statement on Thursday confirming Pirlo’s departure.
Pirlo was sacked after a disappointing start to the season, managing just one draw and suffering two defeats, which left the team second from the bottom in the league standings.
Andrea Pirlo, a former Italy midfielder, had previously managed Juventus for the 2020-21 season following a brief stint with their U-23 team. He then took charge of Turkish club Fatih Karagümrük in 2022 but was only in the role for a year.

The 45-year-old was appointed as Sampdoria’s manager in June 2023 with the goal of leading the club back to Serie A. Despite those ambitions, Sampdoria ended the season in seventh place in Serie B and were knocked out in the preliminary round of the promotion playoffs by Palermo.
