A combined team of security agents and local vigilantes have successfully recovered the corpses of several police officers who had been dispatched from IRT Abuja, PMF 51 Oghara, and the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, Asaba.
The officers were initially sent to rescue three colleagues who had gone missing in the Ohoror community of Ughelli North Local Government Area in Delta State.
According to reports, the joint team ventured into the forest on both Sunday and Monday, determined to locate and retrieve the fallen officers.
The tragic incident traces back to January 24, 2024, when three police inspectors responded to a distress call from one Moses Progress, who had allegedly been robbed by suspected herdsmen while performing a ritual near a river bridge in Ohoror community.

Shockingly, the officers never returned from their mission. Subsequent investigations confirmed the killing of six officers, with 15 officers still missing.
A police inspector, who managed to escape from the herdsmen’s captivity, provided crucial information about the incident.
The combined team retrieved six corpses from the Agadama bush, where operational huts of the suspected killer Fulani herdsmen were also destroyed. However, others remain unaccounted for.
A source (name withheld) at the Delta State Police Command said:
“The recovered corpses of the officers have been deposited at Mariere Central Hospital morgue in Ughelli.”
