Security Guards Beat Colleague To Death Over Theft In Ebonyi

  • A security guard has been confirmed dead, after being beaten by his colleagues.

  • He was beaten to death over allegations of theft.

  • The family have demanded justice, as they write to the commissioner of police.

Family members of a security guard have demanded for justice, following his gruesome murder.

According to reports, the deceased, a native of Ezzama in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state was a security guard attached to the Permanent Site of Ebonyi State University (EBSU), Ezzamgbo, in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Joshua Ukandu noted that the deceased was allegedly beaten by his colleague in connection to a theft in the varsity.

Ukandu noted  that three people have been arrested in connection to the murder.

 

He said;

They said they caught someone stealing at EBSU’s permanent site. The people who caught him may have taken the law into their own hands and beaten the person,”

“Though he didn’t d!e immediately, it later occurred to them that it was time to take him to the police station. However, the police advised them to take the person to the hospital for medical treatment.

“So, I think it was at the hospital that it was confirmed the person had died. We arrested the three individuals who brought the person to the police.”

Reacting to the development, the family of the deceased, through their legal adviser have petitioned the police, alleging that the killers committed the crime and took the body to the hospital.

The family urged the Commissioner of Police to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The EFCC has arrested the Accountant General of Bauchi State over alleged fraud.

He is said to have engaged in fraud tuning up to the sum of N70 billion naira.
