Mr Aniagwu was speaking on the rising number of recent cult related killings in Asaba and environs.

According to Aniagwu, “the government is very much aware of the insecurity within Asaba, and environs”.

“It is not enough to say that government and police are not doing enough. There are number of arrests being made but we need more of intelligence from the citizens because these cultists are our brothers and sisters.”

On allegations made by the All Progressive Congress that Governor Okowa had mobilized thugs to disrupt the gubernatorial election in Edo State with a bid to rig the election for Obaseki, Aniagwu said;

“Okowa joined Obaseki last week for campaign in his capacity as the Chairman South-South Governors Forum, but the APC alleged that Okowa imported thugs to the state, how can one send thugs to disrupt his party rally?”

There have been series of calls for South South states to set up a regional security outfit like the Amotekun of the West mostly occasioned by the incessant killing activities of Fulani herdsmen.
