Senate Confirms Halima Shehu NSIPA Boss

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Mrs Halima Shehu as the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

The confirmation followed the approval of a motion by Senate Majority Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti) at the Committee of the Whole.

Shehu’s appointment was among three appointments confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The other two appointments were Mr Ola Olukoyede as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda as the Secretary of EFCC

NSIPA was a government agency that was responsible for implementing social investment programs in Nigeria.

The agency was established in 2016 to provide a coordinated approach to social investment programs in Nigeria.

Shehu held a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

She has over 10 years of experience in the banking industry, heading several units in banking operations. She also worked with Access Bank where she resigned as a Branch Services Operations Manager.

Shehu was at a time, a member of the Board of Internal Revenue and was appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Katsina State, from 2011 through 2015.
