Senior Staff In Federal University Ekiti Accuse Vice-Chancellor Of S£xual Harassment, Intimidation, Demand Probe | Daily Report Nigeria

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has accused the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, of sexual harassment, intimidation, and creating a hostile working environment.

In a statement issued on Monday, SSANU raised serious concerns about the vice-chancellor’s leadership, demanding a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.

The union claims that under Fasina’s administration, there has been widespread victimization of staff members, particularly those involved in union activities, with the Vice-Chancellor allegedly using his office to suppress dissent and undermine staff morale.

The union has also called for a thorough probe into the financial management of the university during Fasina’s tenure, citing concerns over a lack of accountability and transparency.

“Serious allegations have been brought against the Vice Chancellor, including sexual harassment, victimization, and abuse of office,” said Benjamin Faleye, the SSANU Chairman.

The union also expressed its opposition to what it described as the “placement of teaching staff into non-teaching roles,” which they believe deviates from the university’s standard practices.

SSANU has urged the University’s Governing Council to intervene swiftly and restore order, calling for the reversal of such appointments.

In addition to the accusations of sexual harassment and administrative recklessness, the union emphasized concerns over staff allowances and the failure of the university’s management to implement decisions made by the Governing Council regarding these payments.

Despite the serious nature of the allegations, the Vice-Chancellor’s media adviser, Dr. Wale Balogun, dismissed the claims as baseless, describing them as politically motivated and lacking credible evidence.

In a statement, a coalition of university staff unions expressed their support for the Vice-Chancellor, describing the accusations as malicious.
