Serie A Bans Erikson From Playing For Inter After Euro 2020 Collapse

Denmark’s midfielder, Christian Eriksen has been prevented from featuring for Inter Milan for collapsing the to a cardiac arrest at the EURO 2020 in June.

This confirmed via Serie A club’s statement issued on Friday, 29th of October.

The 29-year-old midfielder was confirmed to have gone on the pitch following cardiac arrest amid Euro 2020 game against Finland in June.

He was however, revived by Denmark team doctors after being administered Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The player who started his career at Ajax had a cardioverter defibrillator device engrafted in his body afterwards.

That said, Eriksen will not be allowed to participate in Serie A this season until the device is removed from his body.

Francesco Braconaro, member of the Italian Football Federation’s technical-scientific committee confirmed this.

Simone Inzaghi’s side have also ratified the same position.

The club’s statement reads: “With reference to the registration rights of the player Eriksen, it should be noted that following a serious injury which occurred during the European Championship in June 2021, the player has been temporarily inhibited by the Italian medical authority from sporting activity in the current season.”

“Although the current conditions of the player don’t meet the requirements of achieving sporting fitness in Italy, the same could instead be achieved in other countries where the player could resume competitive activity.”
