Seun Kuti recounted that he was so spoiled growing up that he has never done laundry in his life and doesn’t even know how to wash clothes. “I won the daddy lottery,” he said. “Fela Kuti is my favorite person in the world. If you asked my brothers, they could say he’s a terrible dad, but to me, he was an amazing father.”

He also mentioned that he started performing with Fela’s band, Egypt 80, when he was just 8 years old, showcasing his deep connection to his father’s musical legacy.

“I have been with Fela’s Egypt 80 band since I was 8 years old. So when Fela died my family asked me to continue with the band & keep all the money I make,” he said.
