At least seven people lost their lives in a lone truck accident that occurred over the weekend along the Katsina-Ala–Zaki Biam Road in Benue State.
The truck, which was reportedly loaded with around 600 bags of cement, was travelling at high speed when it hit a pothole and overturned.
The crash left several occupants with varying degrees of injuries, while two others escaped unhurt.

Eyewitnesses said the quick response from local residents helped rescue six injured individuals from the wreckage. “The truck was heading towards Zaki Biam at high speed when the driver lost control after hitting a pothole. It somersaulted, killing seven people on the spot,” one source recounted.
Confirming the incident, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Steve Ayodele, said the accident occurred around 11 a.m. on Saturday and involved 15 people in total. He noted that seven died, six sustained injuries, and two were unscathed.
Ayodele added that the truck’s remains had been cleared from the road to restore normal traffic flow.
EFCC Arraigns Bank Staff, Others Over Alleged N8.5 Billion Fraud In Lagos
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Command, on Friday, May 23, 2025, arraigned three employees of a first-generation bank alongside four others for allegedly conspiring to defraud Wema Bank Nigeria Plc of N8.5 billion.
The accused—Samuel Ihechukwu Asiegbu, Fabian Chizaram Onyeimachi, and Kingsley Kelechi Ejim—were brought before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos.
