Shallipopi, a popular Nigerian singer, has shared some advice with his fellow musicians, urging them to set their fees based on the true value of their work.

This comment came amidst ongoing discussions about the high fees Nigerian artists are charging for their performances and appearances.

In an interview with News Central TV, Shallipopi discussed how an artist’s worth is closely tied to the success and influence of their music.

He pushed back against the idea that Nigerian artists have overpriced themselves to the point where they are no longer affordable in the local market.

Instead, he argued that artists who are achieving streaming numbers on par with American musicians should charge fees that reflect that success.

He explained, “The price you set should reflect where your music stands. If your music is getting the same streams as an American artist, then your fee should be in line with what they charge. But if your music hasn’t reached that level, you shouldn’t overcharge.”
