Former Senator Shehu Sani has lambasted ex-Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over his comments on President Bola Tinubu’s alleged nepotism at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

Sani’s reaction came after El-Rufai shared a post by US-based Professor Farooq Kperogi, who accused Tinubu of governing Nigeria with a Lagos mindset. El-Rufai commented, “Two wrongs don’t make a right,” adding that sensible inclusion trumps senseless exclusion.

However, Sani swiftly countered El-Rufai’s stance, saying, “There were people who were silent when Buhari was fielding political offices with his kinsmen, and have now found their voice to speak out when the equation doesn’t favour them.”

The former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, further stated, “Let’s not make reference to the nepotism that marginalised Southern Kaduna for eight years. Kaduna was an apartheid state for eight years.”

Sani added that while anyone can criticise President Tinubu on issues of alleged lopsided appointments or nepotism, El-Rufai is not qualified to do so.
