Nigerians are in shock with what is widely referred to as a deliberate shenanigan by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following the conclusion of the assembly primary elections in Lagos State.
Nigerian singer and music executive, Olubankole Wellington, best known as Banky W was declared winner of the PDP house of representatives ticket for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
In a live video showing when the results were being counted by officials, Banky W scored 28 votes ahead of his opponent, who scored a mere 3 votes.

However, social media users were thrown into confusion when a leaked image of the final result submitted by the PDP indicated that Banky W was not the winner of the election.
Nigerians have reacted angrily to the report, with many dragging the PDP for choosing dollars over credibility.
Foremost activist, Deji Adeyanju, who was among the first persons to bring the issue to limelight, labeled the PDP as cursed.
Deji further asked the Strong Thing crooner to look for a party other than the main opposition to contest for the seat.
“PDP is cursed. Banky W didn’t get the ticket according to their latest evil scheme. All they care about is dollars. They sold every ticket in Lagos. Dear @BankyW, please resign from PDP and go to NNPP, Labour Party or SDP. PDP the dollars party cannot change. All they care about is money.”
While many other notable Nigerians have frowned at the situation, the PDP was yet to comment on the issue as of press time.
