Shola Akinlade: Paystack Co-Founder Acquires Danish Club, Aarhus Fremad

Shola Akinlade, a Nigerian software engineer and co-founder of Paystack, Shola Akinlade, has acquired Danish club, Aarhus Fremad.

Akinlade, 38, purchased a 55 per cent stake in the Danish second division club to become the majority owner.

The development is coming less than a year after he founded his own football club, Sporting Lagos, in 2022.

Sporting Lagos currently plays in the second tier of the Nigerian league, and will be a cooperative club with Aarhus Fremad following the acquisition.

Aarhus Feemad currently lead the Danish second division table with six points.

The club announce the takeover in a statement on Tuesday, saying;

“We have looked at the date correctly, and yes – it is good enough Aarhus Fremad has closed an agreement today, which means a new owner in the club.

“We are very much looking forward to the collaboration and eagerly await what the future brings us.”
