ECOWAS leaders met to assess progress and plan regional cooperation
President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has been elected as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), replacing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, who has led the regional bloc for the past two years.
The leadership transition was officially announced during the ECOWAS Summit held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where heads of state and government convened to evaluate the bloc’s achievements and strategise for enhanced regional cooperation.
