  • Don Jazzy revealed he regrets not signing Simi and Teni, saying he greatly admires their talent.
  • He disclosed that he once had the chance to sign Davido but believed the singer would succeed with or without him.
  • The Mavin boss also mentioned that a deal with Falz nearly happened, while Wizkid was already under Banky W’s management at the time.

Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy has opened up about a few artists he admired early on but never managed to sign, admitting that timing and circumstances sometimes get in the way.

Speaking frankly, the music executive mentioned that singers Simi and Teni were on his radar, but things never progressed beyond admiration. “I like Simi. I didn’t sign her. I wish I did. I like Teni. I wish I did,” he admitted.

Addressing his long-standing respect for Wizkid, the producer said a collaboration couldn’t happen because the singer was already tied to another label. “To Wizkid, obviously, I couldn’t because Banky got to him first. That would have been amazing.”

He also touched on a near-deal with Falz, saying discussions were held but never finalized. “Falz, I love his work, and we almost actually had a deal. Well, it didn’t work out.”

Reflecting on all these near misses, Don Jazzy noted the reality of the industry: “But then at the end of the day, you cannot sign everybody.”
