Skales and Wizkid

Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, has revealed that he wrote several hit songs for his former label mate Wizkid during their time at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).

Speaking on the podcast ‘Curiosity Made Me Ask’ hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Skales shared that he contributed to some tracks on Wizkid’s debut album Super Star, including the bonus track “Wiz Party.”

He also acknowledged that their collaboration was mutual, with Wizkid writing songs for him as well. One notable track Wizkid penned for Skales was the hit single “Mukulu.”

“Back in EME, we worked as a team, writing songs for each other,” Skales explained. “I wrote some of Wizkid’s songs, and he did the same for me. He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me, and I wrote ‘Wiz Party’ for him. It was all about teamwork back then.”

Both him and Wizkid were among the first artists signed to EME by singer and music executive Banky W in the early 2010s.

Their time with the label helped launch their careers into the limelight, but they eventually parted ways following a series of disagreements with Banky W.

In a previous interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Banky W disclosed that Wizkid was contractually obligated to deliver three more albums to EME before leaving the label.
