Organisers billed the festival as Africa’s largest skating event.
It ran the 42km Skating Marathon (men), the 21km Skating Race (women) and inline hockey.
The event drew athletes from across Nigeria and filled the stands with fans.
Local clubs and grassroots skaters joined elite racers, raising the level of competition.
Daniel Damola, the convener, said organisers have paid all prize money and thanked participants and Cross River residents.
“While we faced challenges, the event was a major success,” – Damola said, and he pledged to build on the momentum for next year.
“The Skate-a-Thon Calabar is more than a sporting competition — it is a movement that can showcase Cross River State and Nigeria globally.” – he added.
Organisers praised Governor Bassey Otu for creating an enabling environment.
A Lagos team travelled under sponsorship from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Organisers say Skate-a-Thon Nigeria now helps position Nigeria as a continental leader in roller sports, and skateboarding’s Olympic inclusion is boosting youth interest.
