Governor Chukwuma Soludo has approved the appointment of Mrs Chiamaka Nnake as the new Secretary to the Anambra State Government, making her the first woman to hold the position in the state.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was confirmed in a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.
Nnake succeeds Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who exited office following the recent dissolution of the State Executive Council.

The 39-year-old technocrat hails from Nawfia in Njikoka Local Government Area and previously served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning in Anambra State, where she played a key role in resource mobilisation and socio-economic development.
She also held leadership positions across major state institutions, including the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, Internal Revenue Service Board, and the Small Business Agency.
Described as a reform advocate, Nnake has served as the state’s Ease of Doing Business champion and focal point for social investment programmes, while also acting as Nigeria’s chairperson for the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) Programme.
Before joining government, she worked as a senior strategy consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria, where she led over 30 high-level engagements across multiple sectors and earned the organisation’s CEO Award in 2021.
Her career also includes roles at IHS Towers and Meristem Securities Limited.
Academically, she holds an MBA from Lagos Business School and a first-class degree in Accounting from Benson Idahosa University.
She is also a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is currently pursuing a PhD in Public Policy.
Nnake is married with three children.
