Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has dismissed the relevance of the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state following the outcome of Saturday’s by-elections.

Speaking on Sunday in Nanka during celebrations of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) victories, Soludo said the polls demonstrated that the ADC and LP “are dead” and “non-existent” in Anambra.

He specifically targeted former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who supported ADC candidates in the elections.

“ADC does not exist in Anambra. We showed it yesterday, Saturday. Labour Party is dead,” Soludo declared.

According to the governor, the ADC-led opposition coalition had attempted to use the by-election to gauge its popularity, but the people “spoke overwhelmingly with over 75%” in favour of APGA candidates.

Soludo concluded by reiterating the dominance of APGA in the state, declaring: “APGA is our movement.”
