A man identified as Owate Bode has reportedly killed his mother after she refused to give him twenty thousand naira in Rivers State.
Bode requested N20,000 from his mother who lived in the Aleto community, Eleme Local Government Area of the state.
According to him, he needed the amount to enable him to attend a funeral in the community.

He became furious when could not get the desired response from the woman.

The suspect claimed his mother after withdrawing N20,000 only gave him N10,000, which he insisted was not enough.
A source (name withheld) said:
“But the boy refused and insisted it must be the N20,000 he asked for.
“Things however went out of control when the mother walked out on him. The boy now picked up a hoe and hit his mother on the head. The woman’s head was ripped open and she fell in a pool of blood. That was how she died.”
Spokesperson of the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed that the suspect has been arrested.
