“I spoke to someone who arrived at the crash scene soon after the accident and he described a horrific scene with one body burnt beyond recognition,” the official who spoke on anonymity said.

“Motjeka apparently managed to crawl out of the burning vehicle, but was declared dead by medical personnel at the scene of the accident.”

The defender was capped 13 times by the Bafana Bafana after establishing himself as a first choice centre-back in a Sundowns team that quickly became part of the strongest teams in Africa in the last half a decade.

Madisha became the second defender of the club to die in a car accident in the last two months following the death of Anele Ngcongca, who died near Durban.

Madisha won the Premiership – FA Cup-League Cup treble with Sundowns last season and are currently top of the table after six rounds of games in the new league season.
