Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah says southeast residents no longer observe the sit-at-home order declared by secessionist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The governor said that people of the region now go about their business without fear of being attacked by sit-at-home enforcers.

Mbah stated this after visiting President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He said: “We no longer have a sit-at-home in Enugu State, and I dare say in the South-East. We have workers going to work on Monday, and schools are open on Monday,”

“Business and economic activities are back. So, what we are dealing with now is to erase that sad memory from our history.”

Speaking on the financial reforms implemented by Tinubu’s administration, Mbah acknowledged that certain policies, such as fuel subsidy removal, pose challenges for Nigerians.

He said: “It is essentially to commend the president because a lot of things that he is doing at the national level are also rubbing off well on us at the state level – policies like the unification of the foreign exchange rate. What that simply means is that we are going to have a lot of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) coming in, and we are also going to benefit from that,”
