Sowore Arrested

Foremost activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has been arrested at the Federal High Court Abuja, Daily Report Nigeria can confirm.

The SaharaReporters Publisher was arrested as the court resumed the trial of the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Report say the ‘Buhari-must-go’ activist was picked up by security operatives on the court premises while making a Facebook Live session on Monday morning.

Sowore’s arrest may be in-line with the barring of media houses by the Department of State Services, allowing only 10 media organizations to cover the trial of Nnamdi Kanu.

Household media organizations like The PUNCH, The Guardian, Vanguard, Daily Trust, Tribune, Daily Sun, The Cable, and Daily Times, and Sowore’s Sahara Reporters were all barred from covering the trial.

The media organisations accredited by the DSS to cover the trial are Daily Post, ThisDay, Premium Times, The Nation, Daily Independent, The Herald, National Television Authority, Television Continental, African Independent Television and Channels Television.

The DSS did not give reasons for picking just 10 media houses while barring others from covering the trial.
