Popular Nigerian rapper, Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, has been granted bail after spending nearly a month in police custody.

The rapper’s arrest on November 27 was linked to an alleged altercation with Afrofusion star Damini “Burna Boy” Ogulu.

Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that Burna Boy was responsible for his client’s arrest.

The rapper had previously criticized Burna Boy for his association with embattled U.S. rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces charges for sexual exploitation and human trafficking.

Despite the incident, Speed Darlington vowed to continue speaking out against Burna Boy. However, in a recent Instagram post, Speed Darlington’s representative, Alieke, announced that the rapper had been granted bail, stating “Apki has been granted bail by the court”.

Adeyanju had earlier stated that Speed Darlington would be arraigned within 48 hours or released on bail. “Our FREP application for Speed Darlington has been granted by the court.

He is to be arraigned within 48 hours or released. Issues of injustice may take time, but justice will always prevail,” he wrote.
