The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has issued a fresh security advisory, urging Nigerians to remain alert in markets, churches, and other public gatherings amid growing concerns over safety in crowded spaces across the country.

In a statement released on Friday via the DHQ’s official X handle, the military advised citizens to promptly report any suspicious behaviour or unfamiliar individuals to the nearest security agency.
According to the DHQ, maintaining situational awareness is crucial in preventing crimes and stopping threats before they escalate, particularly in crowded public areas.
The military also stressed the need for cooperation between civilians and security personnel, noting that timely information from the public can significantly reduce security risks nationwide.
“Remain alert in crowded places, markets, churches, and public gatherings. Promptly report any unusual behaviour or persons to the nearest security agency. Remember, always maintain situational awareness,” the DHQ stated.
The advisory comes amid rising concerns over security threats in public spaces, as authorities intensify efforts to prevent attacks and criminal activities in busy areas.
By encouraging vigilance, the DHQ described Nigerians as the first line of defence, capable of identifying early warning signs and helping security agencies protect lives and property.
