Tragedy struck at Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo State when a student, identified as Alex, was beaten to death by his colleagues over allegations of phone theft and illegal money transfer.

According to a source within the institution, the incident occurred on Friday evening after Alex was accused of stealing a phone and transferring funds from the owner’s account.

A video clip showed the student being beaten with a cane, with onlookers encouraging the attacker to continue. The situation escalated, resulting in Alex’s death early Saturday morning.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO), Femi Atoyebi, the students took matters into their own hands instead of reporting the incident to the management, leading to the unfortunate death.

It was said that the Institution has handed over the students to the police for investigation, ensuring that justice will be served.
