Students from Taraba State
secondary school have staged a protest concerning the unavailability of basic social amenities at their school.
The students of Government Day Secondary School Salihu Dogo in Jalingo, during the protest, prevented their principal from going home after school hours.
It was gathered that they protested on Wednesday, June 15 at the school’s gate and outside the principal’s office for the lack of a laboratory for science students and enough seats in classrooms.

Reports stated that about 13 protesters were expelled for their for staging a protest against the school’s management.
A female student said; “Science class we don’t even have a lab. Science class we have never taken practical .
See Biology, Physics, Chemistry, no lab. No seat. You will be standing. How would you even listen to the lectures that they are teaching. You will not even understand even one thing.”
It was gathered that the number of students at the school is about 1,000 and their tuition per term is 4,800 out of which 500 is furniture fee.
The Taraba State government is yet to comment on the issue as at the time of filing this report.
