“I met Yhemolee through one of my ex-girlfriends at an event in 2012,” Cheque recalled. “Through Yhemolee, I then met Fireboy, Blaqbonez, and others. I was studying chemical engineering and wasn’t into music initially because it seemed like something for unserious people. But eventually, music called to me, and I couldn’t resist it.”

Cheque added, “I started going to the studio with them. Yhemolee and I lived together, and that’s how I met Asake. Asake and I were dating two girls who were roommates, so we often visited their place together. It was a crazy time.”

Reflecting on his long-standing connections, Cheque noted, “I’ve been friends with Fireboy DML and Blaqbonez for 14 years.”
