The highly anticipated international friendly between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Argentina Albiceleste has undergone a venue change, now set to take place in the United States of America.
Originally slated for China, the match was relocated due to a dispute involving Argentine football icon Lionel Messi and Chinese soccer authorities.

Messi’s decision not to participate in a friendly match between his club, Inter Miami, and Hong Kong X1 led to tensions, particularly as he was recovering from a groin injury at the time.
Consequently, Super Eagles and Argentina friendly match was moved to a yet-to-be-disclosed date in March. Additionally, Argentina is scheduled to play against El Salvador in another friendly during the same month.
For the Super Eagles, this fixture serves as vital preparation for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
