Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum remains optimistic about his team’s chances at the 2024 Olympic Games, despite being drawn into a challenging group.
The West African team is in Group C, along with Brazil, former world champions Japan, and reigning world champions Spain.
Randy Waldrum unveiled his squad for the women’s football event on Thursday. The Super Falcons had an impressive run at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, advancing from a tough group that included reigning Olympic champions Canada and hosts Australia.

“I think this one could be a special group,” Waldrum told ESPN. “We’ve shown our quality against some of the best teams in the world at the World Cup, and hopefully, we’ll do the same at the Olympics.”
The Super Falcons will face Brazil in their first game at Stade Bordeaux on July 25, followed by Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31. The matches against Spain and Japan will be held at Stade de la Beaujoire in Nantes.
