In an emotionally charged post, Peace Ogebe opened up about her mental state as news of fresh attacks continues to filter in from the Otukpo area of Benue State.

> “I am just having sleepless nights these days because of what is happening in Benue State. Like seriously, I can’t just sleep. Why all the killing? What is their aim? I keep asking myself this question yet there’s no answer,” she wrote.

Her post quickly gained traction, resonating with many Nigerians who feel helpless watching the growing crisis from afar.

Government Silence Raises Alarming Concerns

The football star also took aim at the government’s muted response to the Benue killings, raising serious questions about leadership and accountability.

“Why is the government quiet over these killings? Is it that they don’t know what to do, or they just intentionally want to be mute,” she added.

Her bold statement reflected the sentiments of many citizens disillusioned by the government’s inaction in the face of repeated herders’ attacks and mounting security challenges.

Fresh Attacks Devastate Otukpo Communities

Within the last week, fresh waves of violence have swept through Otukpo and Otobi-Akpa, where heavily armed attackers raided villages, murdered innocent residents, and set homes ablaze.

The attacks have left dozens displaced and traumatized.

The Benue State crisis continues to deepen as residents grapple with the psychological and physical aftermath of these unprovoked assaults.

Survivors Relive Early April Tragedy

Earlier in April, similar attacks in the Otukpo Local Government Area claimed no fewer than 15 lives.

Survivors recount the horror of being ambushed in the middle of the night, with armed herders shooting indiscriminately into homes filled with sleeping families.

Mass Displacement and Growing Fear

As the situation worsens, many have fled their ancestral homes seeking refuge in safer towns.

Injuries are widespread, and fear continues to spread among locals who wonder when the next attack might strike.

A Desperate Call for Peace and Protection

Peace Ogebe’s heartfelt plea echoes a collective outcry from the people of Benue.

As a public figure and proud daughter of the region, her voice amplifies the desperation of thousands enduring the unrelenting violence.

Her message stands as a powerful reminder that Benue killings are not just headlines, they are human tragedies demanding immediate action.
