“Yes, it is officially confirmed. They told us to appear on Friday for the judgment. They told us that each party should not have more than two counsels in attendance. This, they said, is because they will be delivering seven judgments on the same Friday.”
Governor Abba Yusuf had appealed the decision of the Court of Appeal, which upheld his removal by the state Election Petition Tribunal.
The Tribunal had also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a certificate of return to Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 2023 election.
The Appeal Court, while affirming the governor’s removal, also determined that he was not a member of the NNPP at the time of the election and therefore was not properly sponsored.
