Lucky Okubo, a suspect arrested by the police in connection with the death of 14-year-old Shallon Ebitare, has provided his account of the tragic incident.
Ebitare was reportedly found dead in a hotel room in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, on Easter Sunday.
According to Okubo, the deceased went to the bathroom to take a bath and accidentally fell, resulting in fatal injuries.
He discovered her condition and promptly alerted the hotel manager. Together, they transported Shallon to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), where a medical doctor pronounced her dead.

However, Okubo’s explanation does not address the deep cuts found on Shallon’s neck and legs.
Concerned by this, Mr Ebitari James, the father of the deceased, has requested an autopsy to determine the exact cause of his daughter’s death.
Speculation within the deceased’s family suggested a possible connection to ritual killing, a practice associated with Yahoo boys.
Meanwhile, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Musa Mohammed, confirmed that Commissioner of Police CP Alonyenu Francis Idu has ordered a discreet investigation.
Mohammed urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
