The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, under the cover of darkness, at the Malkohi 1000 Housing Estate.

Residents who discovered the man’s body at dawn said he was found lying face down near the transformer. They also observed severed wires, cutting tools, and signs of forced entry at the site—indicating a possible attempt to vandalise the power installation.
According to the residents, the presence of exposed wiring and tampered cables strongly suggested that the deceased had tried to steal components from the transformer before being electrocuted.
Officials from the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) arrived at the scene to inspect the damage, while security personnel later evacuated the body.
As of the time of filing this report, neither YEDC nor the police had released any official statement regarding the incident.
