A suspected member of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity, identified as Bashiru Saidu, has been shot dead during a rival cult clash in the Atan-Ota area of Ogun State.
The 44-year-old was reportedly shot in the head and left in a pool of blood along Bankole Onibukun Street on Sunday night.

According to eyewitnesses, four unidentified assailants arrived at the scene on two motorcycles, carried out the attack, and fled immediately afterward.
Spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and said officers from the Atan-Ota Division were swiftly dispatched following a distress call received around 10:00 p.m.
“The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into a fatal cult-related incident that claimed the life of one Bashiru Saidu, aged 44, along Bankole Onibukun Street, Atan-Ota in the Atan-Ota area of the state,” Odutola stated.
She added that Saidu’s body was evacuated and deposited at the State Hospital Mortuary in Ilaro for further examination.
Odutola also revealed that the Command’s Anti-Cultism Unit had been deployed by the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, to lead a comprehensive investigation aimed at bringing the perpetrators to justice.
She urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
